The drive southwards towards Zafarraya, leaving behind the Granada-Málaga A-92 motorway, is quite magical, through valleys and past majestic mountains. Down a well-maintained track in the middle of this glorious landscape, you come across the Cortijo Morron de Juana, a comfortable family house set in over 2 hectares of fenced land. Although this is a rural location, the property is not isolated; there are neighbouring properties and the village of Zafarraya is only 3 kms away. However, you feel as though you are in a different world of big skies and craggy mountains and yet the beaches on the coast at Velez Málaga are just 34 kms away.
A house with land, barns, a paddock, proximity to the coast and bustling towns, and dramatic views make this a great property for anyone wanting to make a permanent home here.
Most of the accommodation in the property is on one floor, with a short flight of stairs down to two further bedrooms on a lower level.
The front door opens directly into an open-plan dining room/kitchen - a warm and generous space at the heart of the property. An archway leads through to the sitting room where there is a pellet-burning stove.
Beyond the kitchen, there is a large family bathroom that, in turn, leads to one of the spacious bedrooms.
From the dining area, there is a access to another bedroom and the second bathroom. Stairs lead to the lower ground floor where there are two more large bedrooms.
The property is fully double glazed and the lofty ceilings help keep the house cool in the summer.
The house is surrounded by terraces for outdoor living, and each terrace has it own glorious views. The living room opens onto a barbecue terrace that leads onto a lawned garden area, and at the front of the house there is an old era - a cobbled threshing area that now forms part of the garden. Tucked to one side of the house, there is a workshop/boiler room that contains a back-up water tank and the batteries for the solar-powered electricity; there is a back-up generator. Heating and hot water is powered by gas.
There is parking for 2 or 3 cars at the front of the house.
The bulk of the 2 hectares of land is fenced and currently used for horses and donkeys. There is a detached barn and separate outbuilding and a secure paddock, all easily accessible.

‘Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job’ was first shown on BBC One from 24th January 2025 and is available on iPlayer.
The restored property is now available for sale through Granada Village & Country, and featured on Rightmove.
