This is a really sensitively restored village house that has character and style. It has only recently been restored and fully equipped as a holiday rental property and the house can be sold with all the furniture and equipment included, ready to generate income.

The accommodation is spread over two cottages, one of which could be completely self-contained if required, with its own private access at the rear. Otherwise, there is plenty of space for as many as 6-8 guests in a collection of comfortable and bright rooms throughout the property, punctuated by two patios and a lovely first-floor balcony.

    Accommodation

The front door opens into a characterful sitting room, complete with original timber beams and a wood-burning stove. Every inch of space has been effectively used throughout the house, and a little study area has been created beneath the stairs to the first floor.

Door to the kitchen/breakfast room: a spacious room, again with lots of natural light and a door to the patio garden. The kitchen is well equipped and all appliances can be included, if required. The first of the patios has an outside sink and tap and there is plenty of space for a dining table and 6/8 chairs.

    Separate WC with wash basin.

    First Floor

Double bedroom with window that affords views of the Cerro del Hacho mountain. Two deep storage cupboards.

Twin Bedroom with views onto the rear patios. First floor shower room.

    Rear Casita

From the kitchen, stairs lead up to a dining patio and from there up to the casita at the back of the property, where there is another sweet patio. Door into a double bedroom with adjacent shower room. Stairs lead to a first floor sitting room/Bedroom 4, and there are french windows onto a lovely balcony from where there are 280 degree views over rooftops towards the surrounding countryside. In the sitting room, there is another deep storage cupboard.

The casita could be made into a separate rental property with its own private access from the little lane at the rear of the house. There is also the possibility of adding another window to the rear of the first floor Sitting Room/Bedroom 4 that would give views up to the castle.

The house is fully equipped as a holiday rental, and is suitable for year-round rentals. The storage heaters are set up on 3 circuits with timers for different seasons, and there is an efficient wood-burner in the living room.

This sweet house sits in the heart of the historic village of Moclín and it has proved to be a popular holiday rental, generating income of around €600 per week (or €100 per night), and it can accommodate as many as 8 guests. From the front of the house, there are views of the mountains and to the rear the views take in the Santuario Cristo del Paño and the 13th Century Moorish Castle.

The BBC One programme, ‘Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job’ was filmed across Andalucia throughout the summer of 2024. Amanda Holden and Alan Carr bought an abandoned village house in Moclín through Granada Village & Country, and the historic village was the main focus for the programme, following Alan and Amanda’s progress as they restored the property.

‘Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job’ will be shown on BBC One in January 2025 and will be available on iPlayer.

The restored property will be available for sale through Granada Village & Country, and featured on Rightmove, at the end of the series.
